Philodendron rubrijuvenile 'El Choco Red'

Fresh cutting as seen in the photo. Each cutting is selected with the necessary stem, node, rhizome, or growth mass required for propagation.

Philodendron rubrijuvenile 'El Choco Red' is a compact cultivated form prized for its velvety foliage, prominent veining, and rich red-toned new growth and undersides. Its smaller growth habit makes it especially desirable for collectors who love the dramatic look of El Choco Red but want a more manageable form for terrariums, vivariums, and indoor tropical plant collections.

Mature Size: Vines can exceed 2–4+ ft (0.6–1.2+ m) indoors with proper support, with foliage remaining more compact than standard El Choco Red forms.

Difficulty: Moderate

Rarity: Rare ⭐⭐⭐

Plant Care

Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid prolonged direct sun.

Water: Water when the top 1–2 in. (2.5–5 cm) of soil feels dry.

Humidity: Prefers high humidity (70%+).

Temperature: Prefers 65–80°F (18–27°C).

Soil: Well-draining aroid mix rich in organic matter.

Propagation

Philodendron rubrijuvenile 'El Choco Red' is readily propagated from stem cuttings containing at least one node. Because it is a cultivated form, propagation by cuttings preserves the compact growth habit and distinctive foliage characteristics of the parent plant. Place cuttings in water, sphagnum moss, or a well-draining substrate until roots develop, then pot into an aroid mix.
