Microgramma heterophylla is a miniature creeping epiphytic fern prized for its tiny fronds, trailing rhizomes, and attractive mat-forming growth habit. Its compact size, ability to cover wood and terrarium backgrounds, and appreciation for warm, humid conditions make it a favorite among terrarium enthusiasts and an excellent addition to vivariums and indoor tropical plant collections.

Mature Size: Creeping rhizomes can spread several feet (0.3–1+ m) over time, with individual fronds typically remaining around 0.5–1 in. (1.3–2.5 cm) in length.

Propagation

Microgramma heterophylla is readily propagated by division of its creeping rhizomes. Separate sections containing healthy rhizomes and fronds, then establish them on a moist mounted surface or in a well-draining propagation mix until new growth develops.
