Collector Centurion Roaches are a striking, uncommon species prized by invertebrate enthusiasts for their attractive adult coloration, active behavior, and rarity within the hobby. Also known as Centurion Roaches, Gyna centurio is an African porcelain-roach species that works well as a display colony for experienced collectors or as a distinctive addition to an expanding roach collection.

Adults remain relatively small, with females reaching just under 1 inch. The nymphs spend much of their time burrowed beneath the substrate, while mature adults are more active and capable of climbing smooth surfaces and flying. A secure, well-ventilated enclosure with a tight-fitting lid is required.

Why Collectors Choose Centurion Roaches

  • Rare Collector Species — An uncommon roach that is not typically found in standard pet stores or reptile expos.
  • Striking Adult Appearance — Mature roaches display attractive coloration and noticeable sexual dimorphism.
  • Compact Colony Size — Their smaller adult size makes them suitable for space-conscious invertebrate collections.
  • Interesting Natural Behavior — Burrowing nymphs and active adults create a colony with varied behavior across life stages.
  • Established Captive-Bred Colony — Raised under controlled conditions and shipped securely for live arrival.

Basic Care

Provide several inches of moisture-retaining substrate, such as coconut fiber mixed with organic soil, along with leaf litter and pieces of cork bark. Maintain moderate-to-high humidity while preserving adequate ventilation. Keep the colony warm, generally in the upper 70s to low 80s°F, for reliable activity and development. Offer a balanced diet of dry protein-based food supplemented with fresh fruits and vegetables.

Important Information

Adult Centurion Roaches can climb and fly. Always use a secure enclosure with a tight-fitting lid and appropriate ventilation. These roaches are sold primarily as live collector animals and are not intended as household pets that can be handled freely.
