Dischidia scortechinii
Fresh cutting as seen in the photo. Each cutting is selected with the necessary stem, node, rhizome, or growth mass required for propagation.
Dischidia scortechinii is a distinctive tropical epiphytic vine prized for its compact foliage, trailing growth habit, and close relationship to Hoyas. Its unusual collector appeal, manageable size, and appreciation for warm, humid conditions make it an excellent choice for terrariums, vivariums, mounted displays, and indoor tropical plant collections.
Mature Size: Vines can exceed 1–3+ ft (0.3–0.9+ m) in length under ideal conditions, though growth can be maintained more compact through pruning.
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Rarity: Very Rare ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Plant Care
Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid prolonged direct sun.
Water: Allow the growing medium to become slightly dry between waterings. Avoid soggy conditions, especially when grown mounted or in a small container.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (60%+).
Temperature: Prefers 65–85°F (18–29°C).
Soil: Well-draining epiphytic mix, such as orchid bark, sphagnum moss, perlite, and organic matter, or mount on cork, wood, Hygrolon, EpiWeb, or another suitable humid surface.
Propagation
Dischidia scortechinii is readily propagated from stem cuttings containing at least one node. Place cuttings in moist sphagnum moss, water, or a well-draining propagation mix until roots develop, then pot into an epiphytic mix or attach to a suitable mounted surface.
