Begonia 'Fireflush' | Fireflush Rex Begonia

Fresh cutting as seen in the photo. Each cutting is selected with the necessary stem, node, rhizome, or growth mass required for propagation.

Begonia 'Fireflush' is a historic cultivated Rex Begonia hybrid prized for its deep green to chocolate-toned foliage, maroon markings, and distinctive covering of fine red hairs that give the leaves a velvety texture. Its rich coloration, ornamental foliage, and appreciation for humidity make it a favorite among Begonia collectors and an excellent addition to terrariums, vivariums, and indoor tropical plant collections.

Mature Size: Typically reaches 8–18 in. (20–46 cm) tall and wide under ideal conditions.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Rarity: Uncommon ⭐⭐

Plant Care

Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun.

Water: Keep the substrate lightly moist but never waterlogged, allowing slight drying between waterings.

Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (60%+), with good airflow.

Temperature: Prefers 65–80°F (18–27°C).

Soil: Well-draining, moisture-retentive mix rich in organic matter.

Propagation

Begonia 'Fireflush' is readily propagated from rhizome, stem, or leaf cuttings. Because it is a cultivated Rex Begonia hybrid, propagation by vegetative methods preserves the distinctive foliage coloration, red hairs, and growth characteristics of the parent plant. Place cuttings in moist sphagnum moss or a well-draining propagation mix until roots and new growth develop.
